Wisdom from Tasha

IMG_7247“Nowadays, people are so jeezled up.  If they took some chamomile tea and spent more time rocking on the porch in the evening listening to the liquid song of the hermit thrush, they might enjoy life more.”  – Tasha Tudor

I came across the quote from Tasha Tudor when researching corgi dogs (dangerous thinking I know)!  Corgis appear in most of her books and artwork.  The quote was the perfect sentiment at the perfect time for me.  It’s been a S-L-O-W week at home, with people still recovering from illnesses, leaving me the only one still awake at 8:30 p.m.  I’ve been reading my old issues of Victoria magazine, taking time to enjoy all of the beautiful photos and gracious living articles.

My little garden frog.

My little garden frog.

I needed to slow down, too.

I haven’t really found a good balance between home and work since switching jobs, and having my family resting so much made me realize what I high gear I am operating in.

I want to take a bigger step back into my “core business” of family-food-home and one step back from the demands of work.  Thoughts, working moms?

According to Tasha, chamomile tea is required!

No advice here. As a stay-at-home dog mom now, there are times when I do wonder how I managed to juggle both all the stuff at home and a high stress job. I have absolutely no desire to go back to that and I hope I never find myself in the position of having to. Even being at home, I have times where I find myself running behind. It is a challenge to find a balance.

One thing I have found to be a great help is making lists. For all sorts of things, even those that I might not be doing for a while, but don’t want to “misplace” the ideas. I have a notebook dedicated to nothing but the doll blog where I also keep a list of post ideas as well as a rough draft of a calendar for the month.

Good luck! Now go have some tea.

Sixteen days left of school for me… I am grateful to be off in summer which gives me a chance to experience being home full time.
I really like the notebook idea, and I want to try that.
I found a little balance Saturday by getting in a nap in our sunroom and changing Julie. The AG gang hasn’t had a change of clothes since spring break!!!

I’m always interested in people who live as though they were living in an earlier time. Odd, and intriguing! Her book “Around the Year” was a favorite read-aloud when DD was little.

I too haven’t found the answer of balancing my need for a more simple lifestyle and the pressures of a stressful job. Most days we have left the house in the dark and return in the dark! My kids are getting older so I am mindful that I need to spend quality time with them before they fly the coop. Let me know if you find any answers. đŸ˜„
